As you may know, the OSRS Mourning’s Ends Part II is the continuation of the OSRS Mourning’s Ends Part I quest. Following the events from the first part of this quest, you need to stop the mourners from completing their evil plans. This means that you have to solve one of the most complicated puzzles in OSRS and stop the mourners from excavating under West Ardougne.
Skills and Quest Requirements For OSRS Mourning’s Ends Part II quest
The OSRS Mourning’s Ends Part II quest requirement is the completion of Mourning’s End Part I, Waterfall Quest, Big Chompy Bird Hunting, and the Sheep Herder quest. Skills needed for the OSRS Mourning’s Ends Part 2 quest are:
- 43+ Prayer
- 70+ Agility
Items Needed
- The full Mourner outfit
- Rope
- Death talisman or Death tiara
- Chisel
- Ardougne teleports
- Elf teleport crystal
- Good food and prayer potions
- Stamina potions
The Temple of Light
To start the quest use your elf teleport crystal and go talk to Arianwyn in Lletya. He will tell you to stop the mourners from digging underneath West Ardougne, and that you need to take a key from the Head mourner. If you didn’t put your full mourner outfit yet, now is the time to do it before you go to West Ardougne.
Go to the Mourners HQ and make sure to have your mourner outfit equipped before you get through the door. Use the trap door on the floor and head to the most southern room and talk to the Head mourner to receive a new key.
Use the key on the west door next to the torture room, once inside set your prayer to Protect from melee. Next, follow the path west and use a southwest path when you pass some dark beasts.
When you’re near the temple entrance you will notice some dead bodies on the ground and you may get attacked by lvl 73 shadows. Search the bodies until you take a diary and color wheel.
Enter into the temple, then go west and climb up the stairs to the second floor. Head all the way south and climb up the ladder, on the third floor go north and take the second left then the stairs that are just to your north.
You should be now in between two sets of stairs, first, read the diary that you took earlier and drop the color wheel. Go up the east stairs and go east as far as you can, then run south until you find the blackened crystal.
Use your chisel on the crystal to break off a piece of blackened Crystal. Teleport to Lletya, and go back to Arianwyn, will summon Eluned, who will enchant the black crystal in your inventory into a newly made crystal. It will be used at the end of the quest.
Talk to Arianwyn again and then, you will need to prepare for a long and potentially frustrating puzzle. If you end up losing your crystal you can acquire a new one from Arianwyn. The good news is that during the puzzle you can bank at any time and your puzzle will not reset. So you have the option to leave at any time during this quest.
The Light Puzzles
Before you start the puzzles keep in mind that you will need 4 inventory spaces for the first steps of the puzzle, and increasing it to 13 inventory spaces open for the last step of the puzzle. Make your way back to the temple of Light, go up the stairs and head east towards the crystal collector.
Pull the lever on the wall, left-click on the collector and choose the option “Take all the items”. You will receive a yellow crystal and three mirrors, search the pillar of light next to you and choose the rotate option. Then a window will pop up showing you the direction that the mirror is facing.
Rotating the mirror will change the direction in which the beam faces. If you get attacked from shadows, activate your Protect from melee prayer, also you can try walking around the pillar to avoid them. Click on the pillar and rotate the beam to face north, go north to the next pillar, add a mirror, and rotate the beam west.
Go west to the next pillar, add a mirror and face the beam south. Follow the beam to the next pillar and add a yellow crystal. Then go to the most southern pillar, add a mirror and rotate the beam east.
Now you need to cross the gap and go to the blue door. If you fall, climb up the east stairs and try again. If your agility level is under 75, expect to fail multiple times before succeeding. If you brought a summer pie, use it now to boost your agility level.
Once on the other side, pass through the blue light barrier and open the chest to obtain 2 mirrors and a cyan crystal. Return to the crystal collector and reset the puzzle, collect the items from the collector. You should receive four mirrors and a yellow crystal, place a mirror in the pillar, rotate the beam to face north.
Head to the next pillar, add a mirror and rotate the beam west. Go west to the next pillar, place a cyan crystal, then continue walking west to the next pillar. Place a mirror and rotate the beam north, head to the next pillar, add a mirror, face the beam east.
Run to the next pillar and place a yellow crystal, then go through the pink door and collect the items from the chest. Go back to the crystal collector and you should have four mirrors and a yellow and cyan crystal. Place a mirror in the pillar nearby and face the beam north, head north and face the beam west.
On the next pillar place a cyan crystal, run west to the next pillar. Place a mirror, rotate the beam north, go north and place a mirror, face the beam east. Head east to the next pillar, place a mirror but face the beam up.
Once you’ve done that climb up the ladder, place a mirror in the pillar next to you and face the beam west. Head back down the ladder, run all the way south, and climb up the ladder to the third floor. Then run all the way to the northwest corner, on your way there you will come across two saws in the wall and they may hit you for five hit points.
When you reach the pillar in the northwest corner, place a mirror and make sure that the small side is facing to the west and the large to the east. Now climb back down the ladder that you came from and run to the center of the room.
Climb down the stairs to the ground floor, go to the northwest corner of the room again and enter the door. Rotate the pillar and face the beam south, walk through the south door, and collect the items from the chest at the end of the path.
From that chest, you should get two mirrors and a fractured crystal, walk back through the door you came in. Rotate the beam east to get out and go back to the second floor. The next thing you need to do is head back to the middle pillar where you place the cyan crystal and replace it with a yellow crystal.
Once you’ve done that climb the ladder at the most southern end, go back to the northwest corner and rotate the beam to face south and east. Run all the way south, place a mirror in the pillar, and face the beam down. To do that make sure that the big side of the mirror is facing north and the little side south.
Now climb down the ladder to the second floor, run slightly northwest (or into the room with the rope shown on the screenshots) climb over the low wall and use the rope on the rock by the hole. Climb down the hole, run to the end of the path until you see a cyan door.
Go through the door and collect the items from the chest, and now you should have a blue crystal. Next, go back upstairs and head back to the crystal collector. Place a mirror in the first pillar next to you, face the beam north, and go to the next one. Add a mirror into the pillar and face the beam west.
Run to the next pillar, place a mirror, and face the beam south. Head south, add a yellow crystal, continue going south to the most southern pillar and place a mirror. Rotate the beam to the east and cross the gap to the other side, once you have gone through the agility course enter the blue door and place a blue crystal on the pillar.
After that go back to the pillar in which you added the yellow crystal and remove it. Go to the north pillar, rotate the beam up, climb up to the third floor and run to the north pillar to add the fractured crystal, and the light will split in 3. Walk around to the next pillar to the north, add a mirror, rotate the beam south.
Then run to the south pillar where you came up at and add a mirror to the pillar to face the beam east. Head to the next pillar, add a mirror, face the beam down. Your bigger side of the mirror should face west and the smaller east.
Head back to the pillar in which you added the fractured crystal, place a mirror, and face the beam down. But this time the bigger side of the mirror should face east and the smaller west. Now you need to go to the first floor, head to the south, and then east to a pillar with green light coming down to it.
Put a mirror and rotate the beam south, now at the next pillar, place a mirror. Rotate the beam east, climb up to the second floor and head back to the most southern pillar where the agility course is. Remove the mirror from that pillar and use the agility course to fall through back to the first floor.
Go east until you reach the purple door, go through it, add a mirror to the pillar, and face the beam north. Enter the yellow door and collect the items from the chest, you need to get three mirrors and another fractured crystal.
Death Аltar Puzzle
Head back to the crystal collector, pull the lever and collect the items. As always put a mirror in the first pillar, rotate the beam north. At the north pillar, place a mirror and face the beam down, by placing the bigger side of the mirror facing south and the smaller side north.
Climb down to the first floor, head to the north pillar and put a mirror, then rotate the beam west. Run to the next pillar, place the vertically fractured crystal and go to the most northern pillar. Place a mirror, face the beam up, but make sure that the beam is coming straight up and out of the pillar.
Now climb up to the second floor and go to the most northern pillar that is next to the ladder. Place a yellow crystal and go up the ladder to the third floor. Put a mirror in the pillar and rotate the beam west. Return to the second floor and go all the way south and up the ladder to the third floor again.
Run to the very northwest corner of the room, add a mirror to the pillar and face the beam south and east. Head south, add a mirror and face the beam east. Climb down the ladder and go to the first floor, follow the map to the middle pillar and add a fractured crystal.
Go west to the next pillar, add a mirror, face the beam up. Run to the east pillar, add a mirror, rotate the beam up. Next climb up to the third floor by using the south ladder. Go northwest, place a mirror, and face the beam west. Head all the way east, place a mirror, and face the beam west.
Head to the middle pillar, place a mirror, rotate the beam north. Run north through the stairs to the other side and put the mirror in the middle pillar, and face the beam west.
Next, go west to the next pillar and place a blue crystal in the pillar. For the next part of the quest make sure that you have your Death talisman or Death tiara in your inventory.
The Death Altar from OSRS Mourning’s Ends Part II quest
Head back to the middle stairs, and go down the middle stairs twice to get to the ground floor, pass-through the Light door and rotate the pillar to the north. Go to the middle of the room. The black barrier in front of the death altar should now be white and open.
Note: When you’re ready to leave, make sure to turn the light back towards the entrance door, otherwise to get back in here you will have to go through the Underground Pass to get back.
After you go through the final door, talk to the dwarf Thorgel. You will ask each other how you got to the altar, and he will reveal there is a passage from the Underground Pass created by him and his companions. You will ask if he knows Klank, after which he will realize you are the one who had slain Iban.
Because of this, he agrees to trade you a death talisman in return for some supplies. This applies only for ironman accounts, if you have a regular account you don’t have to give Thorgel supplies. Here is the list of items that you need to bring him if you are Ironman:

Use your death talisman on the death altar (or equip your Death Tiara) then use the newly made crystal that Eluned repaired for you on it to charge it. (If you have 65 Runecrafting, and you brought a pure essence, make a death rune as well, to complete that step of the Ardougne Diary.)
Exit the death altar, and then exit the final chamber and make your way to the black crystal that you observed at the beginning of the quest. Use this charged crystal on the black crystal. This will stop people from entering the temple for another thousand years! Go back to Lletya, and talk to Arianwyn for your reward.
