This mainly includes the parts of the OSRS Murder Mystery quest in which you will need to do the detective work and determine the murderer. The OSRS Murder Mystery quest has no level requirements to start and no previous quest requirements.

Who Is The Murderer?

To start the OSRS Murder Mystery quest, go talk to the guard in the middle of the garden at the Sinclair Mansion, just northwest of Camelot Castle. He will tell you that Lord Sinclair has been murdered and they don’t know who did it. Then agree to help him by investigating the mansion for clues.

Go talk to Gossip who is standing next to the gate, ask him who do he thinks was responsible for the murder. Gossip will tell you that suspects that the murder is done by someone in the house. Also, he heard that the poison salesman has made a big sale recently to someone in the family.

After the conversation is over go to the northwest side of the house and enter the shed. Inside you should find a sack, search it to get flypaper (do that six or seven times to get more flypaper for later), then go inside the house.

Now search the murder scene, go to the southeastern corner room and take the criminal’s dagger on the floor, the criminal’s thread from the smashed window, and a pungent pot. Next, search the rooms on the western side of the ground floor, and in each bedroom, you will find a barrel.

In these barrels, you will find several silver items that belong to the suspects. Go upstairs and search the other bedrooms, then run to the ground floor and go to the kitchen which is right next to the staircase.

Take from the barrel of flour to fill your pot with flour, now use the criminal’s dagger on the pot of flour, and then use it on a piece of flypaper to get an unknown print. Use any of the silver items on the pot of flour and then use it on flypaper.

Use that print on the unknown print to check if it matches if it doesn’t match the flypaper will get destroyed. Do this until you find the criminal’s fingerprint, the name of the criminal will be random for everyone. Once you’ve got a match, you can drop all the silver items except for your proof.

Go to the Seers’ Village pub and talk to the poison salesman. Ask him to whom he sold the poison, and he’ll tell you that everyone at the mansion bought some. Run back to the Sinclairs mansion, and ask the person who had the fingerprints on the criminal’s dagger to find out what the poison was used on.

Search the item they mention, this is random for everybody so here is the list with the names of the NPC’s and the item they use:

  • Anna – Compost heap
  • Bob – Beehive in cow pen
  • Frank – Family Crest, east of the front door
  • David – Spider nest, upstairs between the two rooms with three beds each in them
  • Carol – Sinclair mansion drain, west of the front door
  • Elizabeth – The fountain

After you search the item that they said it is poisoned you’ll find that they were lying and didn’t use their poison on it. Go back and talk to a guard and tell him you know who did it. Use the fingerprints of the person that did it on the unknown fingerprint.

Show him the fingerprints, tell him about the poison, and show him the thread from the windowsill, since its color will be a match to an article of the culprit’s clothing. Case closed!
