How to Get an OSRS Pet? – OSRS Pet Guide

In this guide, I will show you How to get an OSRS Pet? First, let’s talk about What is OSRS Pet? This is a non-combat NPC loyal to you and it is generally obtained from monster drops and skilling. Some pets must be raised to maturity by following the player or in this case, it will be following you.

Most OSRS pets do not serve a purpose other than aesthetics, while some are very rare drops from certain bosses or skilling activities. That is why for some people they are considered prestigious, and you are allowed to have one OSRS pet following you at a time.

You can store OSRS skilling pets in the bank or your inventory, and he will follow the player when it is dropped. One player can have up to 52 pets in the Menagerie of a player-owned house.

If you have a kitten as an OSRS pet you have to stroke and feed it regularly or the kitten will run away. When the kitten reaches the adult stage, it will no longer need to be fed. This, of course, applies only for kitten pets, because the other OSRS pets do not need so much care.

How to Get an OSRS Pet?

You can get OSRS Pet from monster killing drops or skilling, so I’m going to list some OSRS Pets that you can get relatively easily. One of them is Chompy chick, you can get him as OSRS Pet by killing Chompy birds which are pretty easy to kill. So if you do six hours of killing Chompy birds you will have a 79% chance getting the Chompy chick pet.

From killing the Kraken boss you can get the Pet Kraken, to which drop rate is 1 in 3000. You can do 10 hours of killing the Kraken boss and you will have a 17% chance of getting this OSRS Pet. This sounds a lot but the Kraken boss can be used as a money-making method and he is very easy to kill.

To get the Baby Mole as an OSRS Pet you must kill Giant Mole, the drop rate for this OSRS Pet is 1 in 3000. For 10 hours straight killing the Giant Mole boss, you have about 15% chance of getting the pet.

The next OSRS Pet on the list is Venenatis spiderling which can be dropped by Venenatis. If you can kill one Venenatis every 2 minutes and 20 seconds, doing it for 10 hours straight you will have around 12.63% chance to get the OSRS Pet.

The Hellpuppy which you can get from killing Cerberus, If you do 10 hours of killing Cerberus it’s possible to have an 11.9% chance of getting the Hellpuppy as a pet. It’s worth mentioning that the Cerberus requires a Slayer level of 91, and it’s a great money-making method. But you may want to go for the Cerberus when you are on a slayer task that way you’re not going to waste time only going for the OSRS Pet.

What Happens When You Get an OSRS Pet?

When you receive an OSRS pet, it will automatically try to appear as a follower. At the same time, a message in the chatbox will appear “You have a funny feeling like you’re being followed” and a small sound will be heard. If your inventory is full and you have a follower already, you will not receive the pet.

If you are skilling, the pet will be prioritized over the resource gathered and it will be placed in the last inventory slot available, while the resource gathered will be dropped when the inventory becomes full.

If a player dies with a pet following them or if it is in their inventory and it is not one of the items protected on death in a dangerous situation, the pet will be dropped and wander around the area for 30 seconds before despawning. Even if you return in time, the pet cannot be picked up.

That is why you should insure your Pet so that you can head to Probita and reclaim the pet for 1,000,000 coins. To insure a pet, you must visit Probita and pay 500,000 coins.

Summary

Realistically the pets in OSRS are just for aesthetic pleasure, a nice addition to the game. Some of them are very rare and beautiful to have, but for some people, they may seem like a waste of time to get a pet. However everybody has a different opinion on this matter, so you can decide if you want an OSRS Pet or not.
