Fast And Simple Strength Guide OSRS 1-99

Strength Guide OSRS

There are quite a few players on OSRS who haven’t trained Strength. This skill is basically your power in melee combat, so the more your Strength level raises, the more damage you deal against opponents. A high Strength level is especially desirable for player-killers because it raises your max hit and helps generate the burst damage which you need in order to kill other players before they can heal themselves.

Training Strength to level 99 definitely takes a lot of time and dedication, but it can be pretty afkable – one might even do it while studying or working, and – compared to training other skills – it doesn’t take too much OSRS gold. If you’ve set your mind on grinding till max Strength level, you’re going to need this Strength OSRS guide to get you through the process in the most efficient and time-saving way.

Combat skills bonuses

We’re going to start the Strength OSRS guide with some information about other skills you can train beforehand in order to get that Strength 99 easier and faster. The two combat skills that help you with your Strength training are Attack and Defence. You might consider getting a higher level on them before going for Strength 99.

The higher your Attack level is, the higher will be your accuracy, when hitting your opponent in OSRS. So you won’t hit more, but you’ll hit more often. If you’ve ever had or seen a Strength pure hit, you’ll know what i mean. At times, it looks as if such accounts are not even fighting because of how long it takes them to land a hit on someone. Another good thing about increasing your Attack level before your Strength is that this gives you the opportunity to pick your weapon from a wider array and use the best in slot.

Training Defence doesn’t change how much you hit either – the max hit is increased solely by Strength, however having a higher Defence level will reduce the chances of you getting hit. Also the higher your Defence level is, the wider the array from which you can pick armour is.

Another skill that’s related to training Strength somehow is Slayer. While training Slayer, you can also receive some great Strength xp! We’re talking more about this in our Slayer OSRS 1-99 Guide.

Choose your weapon!

In almost all cases of training Strength it’s best to pick a weapon with a high Attack speed. Slow weapons hit higher, but faster weapons hit faster and more consistently so in the end your XP rate is better. A weapon with an Attack speed of 4 (which means 2.4 second interval between hits) is the best choice for highest xp/second.

Another very important thing that you must consider before picking your weapon is that monsters are usually vulnerable to certain kinds of damage and cause some weapons to perform better. Dragons are weak to Stab which makes the Zamorakian hasta better for fighting them than the Abyssal whip, which is a far better weapon than the hasta by stats. It’s best to check the monster’s stats to see its defensive bonuses and pick the best weapon to exploit the monster’s weakness.

Now, starting with the weapons recommendations.

Level 1-40 – Scimitars or Brine Sabre

The Rune Scimitar is a great weapon for training Strenght in low levels. It requires 40 attack and is the prototypical RuneScape weapon. It’s best pick for a cheap but effective training at low levels. Members can use the Brine Sabre which is a better option because it provides 2 additional Slash and Strength bonuses but it’s way more expensive. However, you can buy cheap OSRS gold and train more efficiently with the Brine Sabre!

• Level 50 – Granite Weapons

You need level 50 of Attack for these, as well as 50 Strength. The best weapon you can use at this level is the Granite hammer, it’s only downside is that it is really much more expensive than the other weapons you may use at this level. Your second best option is the Granite longsword which attacks slower than the hammer but is way cheaper.

There is also the Leaf-bladed sword which is a great weapon but it can’t be used by players with low-level Slayer – it has a requirement for 55 Slayer.

• Level 60 – Dragon Weapons

The best one at this level is the Dragon Scimitar. It’s almost much cheaper than the rest of the weapons you have available at this level, so you can see many high level players still using it. You need to complete the Monkey Madness 1 quest to use it. If you don’t want to, you can go for the Dragon sword, which is a pretty good alternative too – it has weaker bonuses and is more expensive but it’s the second best you can get. The third option is the Dragon longsword, which is cheaper but attacks 1 game tick slower than the Scimitar.

• Attack + Strength level over 130 – Warriors’s Guild

If your Attack and Strength levels equal 130 or more, when added together, you are given access to the Warrior’s Guild. Inside the Guild, you can get Defenders, which require a certain Defence level in order to be equipped. They do give amazing Attack and Strength bonuses though, so you should consider wearing them while you’re training Melee Combat. Grinding up your Defence level up to 60 will give you access to the Dragon defender, which is the second best after the Avernic defender, and it makes a huge difference to your XP rate.

• Level 70 – Saradomin Sword/Abbysal Whip

strength guide osrs

If you’re over 70 Attack and Defence and training on Shared xp, the best you can use is the Abyssal Whip. It’s the second strongest non-degradable weapon for Attack/Defence, however it’s no use if you’re just training Strength. If you’re training Strength only, your best pick is the Saradomin Sword which is very affordable compared to the rest of the weapons. It gives a great advantage against low defence monsters. The Abyssal bludgeon is a good option too and is extremely helpful when you’re fighting a monster vulnerable to Crush weapons.

• Level 75 – Ghrazi Rapier/Abyssal Tentacle/Staff of the dead

At 75 Attack you unlock the best Melee training weapon in the game – the Ghrazi Rapier. However, it’s very rare and expensive, so not many players can afford it. The Abyssal Tentacle and the Blessed Saradomin Sword are pretty cool options too but they are degradeable. Another option is Staff of the dead which is the best weapon when it comes to slash. It’s more accurate than the Saradomin sword if you use it with a defender, but has lower strength. It’s best to use against high-defence monsters.

Strength OSRS Best Gear

When picking your armour, you need to take in consideraton the Attack style of the opponent. If the monster or player is using Melee or Ranged, you need metal armour and shiels for the highest Defence bonus. Dragon Hide and other Ranged gear is your best pick against Magic attacks though.

Now here are your best in slot items for training Strength:

• Helmets – Serpentine Helm/Helm of Neitiznot

Both helmets are pretty good picks and give the same strength bonus, however, the Serpentine Helm gives a higher Defence bonus. If you’re training with Slayer tasks, use the Slayer helmet or the Black mask.

• Bodies – Fighter Torso/Bandos Chestplate

The Bandos Chestplate and the Fighter Torso give the highest Strength bonuses, but the Bandos Chesplate has a really better Defence bonus.

• Legs – Obsidian Platelegs/Bandos Tassets

Bandos Tassets have a higher Strength and Defence bonus so once you can afford them, make sure to use them. Obsidian Platelegs are your second best.

• Shields – Avernic and Dragon Defenders/Dragonfire Shield

The defenders give highest damage per second. The Dragonfire Shielf gives you a high Strength bonus and while you haven’t unlocked the Defenders yet, you can use Toktz-Ket-Xil.

• Capes – Infernal Cape/Fire Cape

The Infernal Cape is really something and gives the best bonuses, second best is the Fire one and then the Mystical one. If you have no access to any of these, go for the Obsidian cape which provides a small Defence bonus even though it doesn’t increase damage.

• Gloves – Recipe for Disaster Gloves/Combat or Regen Bracelet

Your best choice would be any of the gloves from the quest Recipe for Disaster – Barrows gloves, Dragon Gloves, Rune gloves…If you have no access to them, you may use the Regen or Combat bracelet.

• Boots – Primordial boots/Dragon boots

The best you can get is Primordial boots which give you +5 Strength, then you have the Dragon boots with +4. For low levels, use climbing boots.

• Necklaces – Amulet of Torture/Fury/Glory

The best is amulet of Torture, the amulet of Fury and the amulet of Glory give some pretty good bonuses too.

• Rings – Berserker Ring (i)

You should imbue the rings as soon as possible at the Nightmare Zone. The Berserker Ring is your best option because it benefits all melee combat and not one attacking style only. If you can’t afford it or the Warrior/Tyrannical/Treasonous Ring which work for one attacking style each,  get the Ring of Wealth which increases the chance of rare drop table rolls and picks up coins. For low level players, Ring of Recoil is recommended as some of the damage received by you will be dealt to the opponent and it recoils at least 1 damage when you’re hit.

Strenght Guide OSRS 1-99

Now that you’re all set up to train Strenght with all the possible bonuses and the most efficient weapon, it’s time to go through the Strength Guide OSRS on where and how to train until you get to level 99.

• Waterfall Quest – 1-30

The Waterfall Quest has no requirements and provides the fastest way to reach level 30. There are several quite hard-hitting monsters you will have to face during the quest so it’s best to train some Defence and Hitpoints before you get on with it. It’s a must to do if you want to follow a strength guide osrs.

• Chicken – 1-10

If you choose not to complete the Waterfall Quest, you can start on Chicken north-east of Lumbridge. You don’t have to meet any requirements and you’re not going to need any food. You can also stack the feathers they drop and sell them. It’s a good way to train your Prayer too because they drop bones frequently. However, they give very low xp and are non-aggressive.

• Sand crabs/Ammonite crabs – 10-60/70

Your best option is to train on Ammonite Crabs which are located on Fossil Island. Their combat level is 25 and you have to complete the Bone Voyage quest to access them. It’s best to bring some food with you, especially if you have a low Defence level, and to build the bank chest on Fossil Island so you can access a bank nearby. The crabs have high health and low Defence and Attack so it’s a very good training spot, also there are many of them and you can kill them in groups. The aggro is automatic, so it’s pretty afkable. On the downside, it’s often quite crowded there and you have to reset every ten minutes.

Sand crabs have a lower Combat level but other than that, they pretty much have the same advantages, also you don’t need to complete the quest to access them. However, you need to pay 10,000 coins if you’re going on Crabclaw Island. You can find Sand Crabs on the beach south of Hosidius too and in the Crabclaw Caves.

• Nightmare Zone/Slayer – 60/70-99

The fastest solo xp/h for Attack and Strength is gained in the Nightmare Zone. It’s a minigame north of Yanille and in order to participate in it, you need to complete at least 5 quests that the Nightmare Zone supports. It’s the most afk training method in OSRS. You use overload and absorption pots which you gain from NMZ points. You are rewarded with NMZ points for killing monsters in the minigame. When you start training Strength in the Nightmare Zone, use super combat pots and some food, then when you have enough NMZ points to buy overload and absorption points, stick to them. You can also use the points for imbues that upgrade your gear or to buy herb boxees for profit. Another great thing about the Nightmare Zone is that it’s absolutely safe – when you die in it you don’t lose any items unless you drop them in the arena. Only downsides are there are no drops and you need some OSRS gold to use it.

strength osrs

Your alternative is training Slayer. You can train more than one skill at the same effectively and it can be pretty pofitable, however the xp rates are a lot lower than if you’re training in the Nighmare Zone and it’s far less afk.

Training Strength can be very easy and fast with this quite simple and efficient Strength Guide OSRS! Follow it through and get to that 99 faster than you’ve ever imagined!
