Mort’ton

Note: Before you start this quest make sure that you are in world 377 because in every other world this quest (minigame) and in Mort’ton itself there will be no one.

To start the OSRS Shades of Mort’ton quest make your way to Mort’ton and go to the most southwestern house. Search the smashed table and you will find two Tarromin and Rogue’s purse, next search the shelf on the wall to find a Diary of Herbi Flax. Click on the diary to read it and then close it.

Clean the three herps, now you can drop the rogue’s purse, you don’t need it anymore and then make two unfinished Tarromin potions. Thanks to that you have read the diary, you have the ability to make serum 207. To finish our serum 207 adding ashes to the unfinished Tarromin potions and you will have serum 207.

Once you’ve finished the serum follow the path north and go to the general store. Enter the building and close the door so that the shades can’t go inside and attack you. Use your serum 207 on Razmire Keelgan and he will ask you to kill 5 Loar Shades and collect their remains.

Head northeast and follow the path to the temple, when you see in the chat: “That’s all five Shades!” go back to Razmire in the general store. Use the Serum 207 on Razmire, and he will take two of the shade remains from you. Right-click and select builders store, buy 5 Limestone bricks, 5 Timber beams, 25 swamp paste.

Now open the general store and buy 1 hammer and 1 olive oil. Go to the eastern building with the water sign and use your serum on Ulsquire Shauncy. He will take one of your shade remains, talk to him again, and go through all the talk options, ask what he learned about them.

He will joke about rebuilding the temple and experimenting with the sacred flame. Also, ask him what he can tell you about the temple, which is located northeast of the general store, on a small island.

Repairing the Temple

Run northeast to the temple, equip your Flamtaer bracelet along with the Flamtaer hammer which will allow you to build the temple on your own. It is recommended to bring at least two or three bracelets to build the temple if attempting this solo. Also, a higher Crafting level will increase the speed of building and repairing the temple.

Go inside the temple and click on any random wall you want and wait until your repair state is 100% and the sanctity is at least 10%. This part of the quest can be finished much quicker when multiple players are building the temple.

Five or six players, with two or three building the walls and the rest distracting shades from destroying the walls should make for a successful build within a few minutes. Once you have reached 10% sanctity, use the olive oil on the flaming fire altar in the center of the building to get sacred oil.

If you wish to cure the afflicted citizens of the town permanently, use a vial of Serum 207 on the sacred flame with 20% Sanctity to create Serum 208. It is strongly recommended to use a dose of Serum 208 on both Razmire and Ulsquire to cure their affliction permanently.

Head over to one of the funeral pyres, which are the brown patches on the map west and south of the General Store. Use sacred oil on logs (if you don’t have logs cut down a dead tree) to receive a pyre log. Use the pyre logs on the funeral pyre, followed by the Loar remains.

Light it and you will see a spirit rise from the pyre. Collect your reward from the stone pillar next to the pyre and head back to Ulsquire. Speak with him to prompt the end of the quest.
